Beginner French Course

This beginner course is aimed at people who would like to learn French or those who would like to revise the foundation of French.


Audio files: There is a number of audio files, some for pronunciation, some for listening comprehension. These are indicated as Audio. You are advised to be very careful at how you repeat the words. Try to imitate exactly what you hear to improve your pronunciation.

When there are a Word document and an Audio file next to each other, assume that the Word document is the script. In the case of pronunciation we suggest that you have both files opened simultaneously. In the case of a listening comprehension file, use the script for checking your answers after you have done the exercise.

* Pocket Cards: They are designed to be easily transportable: in a pocket or in a bag. Once they are cut they take very little space. The aim is to take them with you everywhere you go and you will be able to use them on the bus, while waiting for the train, in a queue at the bank etc.!

* Suggestions on the use of the pocket cards:

1. Print the document.

2. Cut every 2 squares in order to keep the picture with its word in French or both the word(s) in French and their translation in English.

3. Fold the card in the middle. This way you have either a picture or a word on one side and theFrench word or the translation on the other side.

4. Use the cards to memorise the words by looking at the English translation or picture and remembering the word in French.
